Kubernetes is one of the most successful open source projects, and the most popular one in the cloud infrastructure space. Initially released in 2014, it has gone through a meteoric rise to become the de-facto standard container orchestration engine. I still vividly remember the days when we wanted to architect a brand new application to deploy in a public cloud back in 2017, and we were debating how to choose between Kubernetes, Mesos, and Docker Swarm.
